Job Description:
Advanced Practice Nurses are Registered Nurses (RNs) with a
masters degree or higher, additional training and
responsibilities. They practice with more autonomy, and may
have prescriptive authority. The principal types of Advance
Practice Nurses are:

Nurse
Practitioners (NP or ARNP)
provide primary and preventive health care services, prescribe
medication, and diagnose and treat common minor illnesses and
injuries.

Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
administer more than 65 percent of anesthetics given to patients
each year.
·
Clinical Nurse
Specialists (CNS)
handle physical and mental health problems within their area of
specialization, and also work in consultation, research,
education, and administration.
·
Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM)
provide well-woman gynecological and low-risk obstetrical care.
