Job Description:   **Dietary Aide, Per Diem, Noon - 8:30AM** **Description** **JOB SUMMARY:** Prepares and sets up food, supplies and nourishment for patients in accordance with recognized safety, sanitation and food-handling standards and procedures. Delivers food trays to patients in rooms as required. Some incumbents may be assigned duties associated with catering services, including delivery to off-site locations. Requires operation of the delivery vehicle, possession of a valid Washington driver’s license and annual review of driving abstract. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serves food in accordance with recognized safety, sanitation, and food-handling standards and procedures. + Prepares, portions, and packages food and supplies for patients, guests and catering service. + Fills food supply orders for hospital patient units and departments. + May assist with answering phones and tray set-up and delivery. Assists other department areas to maintain proper levels of stock and services. Follows department and government safety and sanitation standards. Maintains a “clean as you go” workspace. If assigned catering duties: + Loads, unloads and sets up catering equipment and food in accordance with established procedures, food safety standards and event/order schedules; delivers to off-site location in a timely manner. + Disassembles/packs up catering equipment and returns to the work site at the conclusion of the event/service. + Reports customer service issues to manager. + Reports any delivery vehicle-related problems to the appropriate party. Performs related duties as required. **Qualifications** MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: **Education/Work Experience Requirements** Six months recent work experience in a healthcare field and/or large-volume food preparation that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. **Job Knowledge/Abilities:** + Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food-handling standards and practices. + Knowledge of clinical diets. + Ability to utilize food preparation tools and operate related equipment in a safe manner. + Ability to use basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computations involving fractions in order to alter recipe cards when necessary. + Ability to read, interpret and follow/apply documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety rules and instructions. + Ability to provide excellent customer service. + Ability to read, understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position. + Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position. _If assigned catering delivery duties:_ + Ability to operate assigned vehicle and to drive safely and in accordance with applicable rules of the road. **Licensure/Certification** + Current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card is required. + _For Dietary Aide-Lead_ : Advanced Food Safety Certification (available from NEHA or ServeSafe) must be obtained within 90 days of working in a lead position, and will be verified by department management. _If assigned catering delivery duties:_ + Current Washington State Driver’s License, subject to state vehicle verification to comply with hospital insurance requirements. + Current Washington State driving abstract. **Job** Food Service/Housekeeping **Primary Location** WASHINGTON-TACOMA-ST JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER **Daily Schedule** Noon - 8:30PM **Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period** 0 **Weekends Required** Every Other **Req ID:** 2017-R0104476
