Job Description:   This announcement has been updated with a new application deadline date of 5/31/17 for first consideration. Applications received after that date may be considered until position is filled. This position will start Fall Quarter 2017.

The Diagnostic Technology (DUTEC) faculty performs duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction and the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI). This position works in close collaboration with the DUTEC Program Chair.

The faculty member is responsible for:

•Promote equitable teaching and learning with a diverse student body, both on-campus and in clinical setting.

•Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies/techniques, including integration of technology to assist students in the achievement and assessment of learning outcomes and outcomes assessment.

•Maintain up-to-date knowledge and practical skills in cultural competency.

•Maintain strong commitment to student success through fostering a positive and caring learning environment.

•Assist with planning clinical experiences and finding new clinical sites.

•Provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance.

•Mentor part-time/adjunct clinical faculty.

•Maintain effective communication with faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners from diverse background.

•Actively and effectively participate in faculty group processes.

•Review content of assigned courses and integrate content relevant to the latest research developments, recommendations, and practices in the profession.

•Participate in on-going curriculum development, revision, and program evaluation/assessment that incorporate the principles of diversity and inclusion.

•Participate in the advising and mentoring of students enrolled in the program and of prospective students, including navigating obstacles that underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQia students, Veterans, 2nd language learners, etc.).

•Participate in professional development activities in order to maintain professional qualifications and clinical competency in nursing education.

•Participate in community organizations, events, or in related projects and promote collaborative relationships with high schools and four-year colleges/universities (develop articulation agreements).

•Participate in college governance, decision making, and initiatives, such as the college-wide effort to dismantle barriers that can impact underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations.

•Perform other pertinent contractual duties and functions that may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•Associate's degree from an accredited institution in Diagnostic Ultrasound

•Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent Board-certification in General Ultrasound, specifically both OB/GYN and Abdomen

•Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from various ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities

•2 years of recent clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound

•Intermediate level literacy in Microsoft Office suite and internet navigation

•Philosophy of education appropriate to teach in a diverse (multi-cultural, multi-ability) classroom and an advocate for pluralism
