Job Description:   **Pharmacist - Retail, Full Time, 9:00AM - 5:30PM - St. Joseph** **Description** Provides effective, efficient and accurate ambulatory pharmaceutical care that meets both department financial and customer service goals and objectives. Work is performed in accordance with protocols, internal guidelines/standards, and Washington State Board of Pharmacy regulatory requirements. Work involves the compounding and dispensing of drugs according to prescriptions issued by various hospital departments and physician clinics; providing patient counseling and drug therapy monitoring to ensure patients receive safe, efficacious and cost-effective medication therapy. Work may, depending on the site staffing level, also involve consultation with insurance companies regarding patient prescription coverage and complete preparation of prescription orders. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides pharmaceutical care to all patients serviced by an outpatient pharmacy area . + Consults with physicians, discharge planners, and physician groups or providers to select the most efficacious, safe and least costly drug therapy in accordance with FHS, Washington State Board of Pharmacy and/or Hospice Pain Management protocols. + Fills medication orders accounting for patient conditions relative to other therapies and patient medications in a manner that is efficient and which results in a high level of customer satisfaction. + Administers routine and travel immunization vaccines. Counsels, and educates FHS hospital/clinic and customers on drug/OTC information in accordance with department policies and procedures and all applicable Federal and State Laws for ambulatory clinical services to ensure delivery of safe, efficient and cost-effective medication therapy. + Communicates accurately and confidently to patients, physicians, and other medical staff. + Monitors patients under Washington State Board of Pharmacy-approved prescriptive authority protocols. + Provides prescription counseling to patients on all new and refilled prescriptions as applicable and according to Federal and State laws. Works collaboratively with all pharmacy staff to meet financial and customer service goals such as inventory control, efficient workflow, insurance billing, cash and controlled substance controls, and reduced prescription wait times through adherence to applicable departmental policies (i.e., inventory control, billing and customer service). + Facilitates accurate, safe, efficient and timely dispensing of medications in accordance with Washington State Board of Pharmacy regulations by overseeing and directing the workflow of Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians in the absence of an Ambulatory Pharmacist – Lead or supervisor. + Enters prescription orders received from patients and providers, as required. + Consults with insurance companies to obtain authorization for prescription coverage. + Completes and apply package labeling to prescriptions. + Performs final checks on prescription orders and stage completed orders for pick-up by patient. + Handles customer service issues in the absence of Supervisor/Manager. Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services. Patient Population Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served. Performs related duties as required. **Qualifications** **Education/Work Experience Requirements** BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited school of pharmacy including didactic courses and experiential rotations in pharmaceutical care plus one year of work experience in a retail pharmacy setting within the past two years that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. Attainment of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree is preferred. **Licensure/Certification** + Licensure as a registered pharmacist by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. + Membership in professional organizations such as ASHP, ASCP, WSSHP, APHA is preferred. + Washington State Preceptor Certification within 6 months of hire if eligible or within 6 months after becoming eligible. + Current healthcare provider BLS certification. + Current certification in Pharmacy-based Immunization Delivery. **Job** Pharmacy **Primary Location** WASHINGTON-TACOMA-ST JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER **Daily Schedule** 9:00AM - 5:30PM **Scheduled Hours per 2-week Pay Period** 80 **Weekends Required** Every Other **Req ID:** 2017-R0126650
